Storm of Ragnarok – Final Words

On February 4, 2011, in Announcements, Yu-Gi-Oh! Products, by Earl Allen

Well, the Pre-Release is this weekend, so it’s time to take a final look at the set and what it has in store for us.

Oh hai gaiz! I'm a preview of what's to come!

The final OCG Import is confirmed to be Vylon Delta. This is a Level 7 Fairy-type Synchro Monster with 1700 ATK and 2800 DEF. Its materials are any Tuner and any number of non-Tuners, as long as they’re Light Attribute. During your End Phase, if Vylon Delta is in face-up Defense Position, you get to add any Equip Spell Card in your deck to your hand. This goes along with the Vylon Archetype that’ll be introduced to the TCG in Hidden Arsenal 5, but it can also work with Morphtronics, specifically the build I discussed in my latest “Fly in the Wallet” article.

A lot of rarities have been confirmed, and some of them are fitting, in my opinion:

Secret Rares:
The Golden Apples
Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant
Scrap Breaker
Chaos Hunter
Maxx “C”
Nordic Relic Megingjord
Six Strike – Thunder Blast
Vylon Delta

Secret Rare? It should be Gold Rare!

My personal opinions? First, why is The Golden Apples a Secret Rare? For those who don’t know, it’s a Trap Card that triggers when you get hit by a direct attack, healing you for the damage you took, then summoning a Token with an ATK and DEF equal to the damage. I mean, I don’t see it being worthy of being a Secret Rare like Pot of Duality. Maybe I’m just missing something about it.

I don't want to work! I want to bang on the drum all day!

Second, I’m upset about Symphonic Warrior Basses and Symphonic Warrior Drumss being Super Rares, which hurts my chances of getting three copies. I’ll cover them and their brethren in another article.

Other than that, the rarities aren’t that bad this time around, and I can understand why some cards are what rarity.

That’s just about everything for Storm of Ragnarok. Anyone in the Boston area going to Pandemonium Books and Games in Cambridge, feel free to give me a holler, since I’ll be there with some friends. Shout out to them by the way.

To wrap up this article, I’ll discuss something that isn’t Storm of Ragnarok-related.  If you recall from my first article here at The MetaGame Report, I discussed products that are coming out this year, one of which is the Duelist Pack Tin 2011. This Tin comes with four Synchro Monsters, three reprints and a brand-new one, all of which are used by the Dark Signers in the anime. Well, that brand-new one is confirmed to be Frozen Fitzgerald!

You're as cold as ice! You're willing to sacrifice…our wallets?

I’ll discuss this guy next time, when y’all have caught your breath. Until next time, this is MystikX, signing out.
